What’s the definition of ‘fortunate’ you may ask? If that means to score a goal in a half of football in the World Cup without attempting a single shot in that half; then yes, that is ‘fortunate’.

The thrilling encounter between both these teams who faced each other for the first time in a FIFA World Cup saw lots of back and forth action. The Moroccan side came quite close at securing a victory before half-time but  Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand was great at his game. On the field as a 77th-minute substitute, the Moroccan striker Aziz Bouhaddouz ended up heading a free kick from Iran into his own net past goalkeeper Monir El Kajoui to gift Iran a lucky victory.

It is quite unfortunate for Morocco as they hoped to attain a positive outcome but Lady Luck was totally in Iran’s favour tonight.
