FIFA World Cup 2018: Argentina vs Iceland Preview

Lionel Messi led Argentina begins it’s 2018 World Cup campaign on Saturday when they take on Group D minnows Iceland, who’ll be playing their first World Cup this time.

This is going to be the first ever encounter between European minnows Iceland and South American giants Argentina. Argentina has qualified for their 17th World Cup, which is their 12th consecutive World Cup in a row. Well if stats are to be believed then Argentina are the clear favorites to win this game as they have won their opening games in each of the last six editions.

Speaking of Iceland they have qualified for their first ever World Cup and second major tournament after Euro 2016 where they made it to the quarterfinals. With around 350,000 inhabitants, Iceland is the smallest nation ever to reach the World Cup. Well, let’s see how both the nations will perform in this edition of the World Cup.

The game kicks off at 6:30 pm (IST) in Spartak Stadium in Moscow. The same stadium which will host the quarterfinals.
