End of the road for La Albiceleste as Kylian Mbappe’s two-goal game sends France through to the quarterfinals and Argentina home.

Jorge Sampaoli’s La Albiceleste’s world cup dream ended in a defeat as they finished second behind Didier Deschamps Les Blues. France are through to the quarterfinals of the World Cup after a seven goal derby came to an end at the Kazan Arena. Paris Saint-Germain starlet Kylian Mbappe was at his best as he scored a brace to help his team secure their golden ticket to World Cup quarter-finals.

The 7 goal showdown started when Kylian Mbappe won a penalty with a foul on him, which Griezmann finished perfectly. Gabriel Mercado then finished a shot from Messi to make the lead 2-1. After the goal it all went just wrong for La Albiceleste as they conceded three goals after that, with one coming from Benjamin Parvard and the other two coming from Kylian Mbappe.

And that’s how it ended for La Albiceleste and Messi as Argentina failed to make it to the quarterfinals. The win moves France into the quarterfinals, where they’ll face either Portugal or Uruguay.
