Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been touted to take up the role of head of technical development at FIFA, as per reports. The Frenchman retired from management last summer after spending 22 years with the north London club, and was linked with a similar role at other clubs outside England.

Wenger, in most recent news, was in prime position to take up the sporting director job at Paris Saint-Germain. In addition to that, the ex-Arsenal boss was offered a managerial gig at AC Milan and was a prospect for Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

With FIFA interested in Wenger, French media outlet Le Parisien report he will have turned all of them down in pursuit of a higher opportunity. This new role at world football’s governing body will see the 69-year old manager take charge of possible rule changes, and take decisions on the technological aspects and front of the game, while being responsible for overseeing technological  innovations in the wake of modern times.

Wenger is expected to make a full-time comeback to football as early as the next season. However with so many opportunities it yet remains to be seen what the domain of his new job would be.

The legendary Frenchman was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Monaco at the Laureus World Sports Awards couple of weeks back.
