Fans will be allowed to witness live action of the second leg of the IPL in the UAE. This will mark the first time since the 2019 IPL Final that fans will be able to see the matches in stadiums.

Fans to be allowed in stadiums for the second leg of IPL in UAE

The entirety of the last edition and the initial leg of the 2021 edition was played behind closed doors. However, the stadiums will not be filled up to full capacity. It is yet to be known how many fans can attend the matches.

“This match will be a momentous occasion as IPL will welcome the fans back to the stadiums after a brief hiatus owing to Covid-19 situation,”

However, only limited seats will be available for the fans owing to the covid-19 protocols. “… limited seating available keeping in mind the Covid protocols and UAE government regulations,” the statement said

The tickets will go on sale on the IPL’s official website from September 16. The second leg of the league is set to commence on September 19 with a high-octane clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians in Dubai.

The remaining 31 matches will be contested across three venues, much like last time. Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Dubai will play host to the matches in the competition as well as the upcoming T20 World Cup as well.

Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum expressed his delight at the prospect of having crowds back in the stadium. While speaking to KKR’s official website, he said:

“I just heard that, that’s actually fantastic. We were talking about that today, whether the fans would be back and to now know that they are going to be back is fantastic.”

So, hopefully, all of the stadiums will be jam-packed with KKR fans. We could certainly use the support as we have a big task in front of us and we will certainly rally when we get the support of our fans. We hope we have got plenty here in the UAE.”
