Bangladesh U-19 team were a victim to distraught yet again after fizzling out in the end to hand the Indian youth team their seventh Asia Cup title.
After qualifying for the finals as a result of their semi-final clashes getting washed out, India and Bangladesh’s young colts faced off for the title. In a disappointing outing with the bat, the Men In Blue could only manage to put up 106 on the board with skipper Dhruv Jurel and Karan Lal scoring the bulk of runs.
In what was deemed as a comfortable chase for the Tigers, turned out to be an absolute nightmare after being reduced for 16-4. Atharva Ankolekar shone out with a devastating first spell. Despite wickets falling at regular intervals, the match was evenly poised with just 6 runs to win with 2 wickets in hand.
The left-armer returned back for a spell to dismiss both the batsmen to help India clinch the U-19 Asia Cup. The spinner was awarded the man of the match for his game-changing efforts while opener Arjun Azad was adjudged as the man of the tournament.
