Hours after his loan deal with La Liga side Valencia was terminated, on-loan Chelsea striker Michy Batshauyi yet again finds himself without a home after falling out with the Blues as well as the Spanish club. However, Merseyside club Everton have shown keen interest in acquiring the Belgian’s services this month.
Batshuayi was loaned to Valencia in August last year for the then upcoming 2018-19 season, after arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2016 for £33 million and winning that term’s Premier League in his debut season. However, a series of bad performances followed the 25-year old Belgian striker in Spain, where he has scraped a measly 3 goals in 23 appearances.
Following Valencia’s exit from the Copa del Rey after losing 2-1 to Sporting Gijon where the striker was subbed in at half time, club director Mateu Alemany announced that Batshuayi’s loan deal with the club will no longer be in effect, and that they would be releasing him as soon as possible. In addition to his woes, Blues boss Maurizio Sarri has also dismissed the idea of recalling the player.
Taking all this into consideration, fellow Premier League side Everton appear to be interested in signing Batshuayi in this month’s transfer window. However, the deal will have to be made permanent since the club already has Kurt Zouma on loan from Chelsea, as transfer rules restrict the number of players a club can have on loan from another one.
Apart from Everton, Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund are also keen on hiring Batshuayi into their ranks, while Sarri courts on-loan AC Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain who prospered under him during his time at Napoli.
