Esports Federation of India reveals 11-player squad for World Esports Championships featuring ₹4 crore prize pool!

The Esports Federation of India (ESFI) has officially announced the 11-member contingent that is set to participate in the upcoming 14th edition of the World Esports Championships (WEC), set to take place in Bali, Indonesia from 27th November to 7th December which will feature a stupendous prize pool of $500,000, which is roughly approximately 4 crore rupees. The Indian contingent will be comprised of Tekken 7 star Hitesh Khorwal aka rcool, along with a five member Counter Strike Global Offensive (CS GO) squad Team Wicked Gaming, led by Ritesh Sarda, along with Hrishikesh Shenoy, Anshul Ajay Adarkar, Shuvajyoti Chakraborty and Ninad Ramesh Sonare. Khorwal and Team Wicked Gaming secured their WEC entires after clinching the Tekken 7 and CS GO titles National Esports Championships respectively.

Team Wicked Gaming, the defending champions, showcased a stellar performance throughout the qualifiers, remaining undefeated and thrashed the underdogs Kingpins in the summit clash. Meanwhile, Hitesh aka rcool also defended his title against Kashmir’s Arsalan Nabi Wani aka KMR, winning the final by a 2-0 margin.

Aside from the above, the contingent also features a DOTA 2 team – Moin Ejaz, Shubham Goli, Ketan Goyal, Abhishek Yadav and Vishal Verenakar, which have also qualified for the upcoming 2022 Asian Games.

“NESC is always an arduous task for Tekken participants since our scene has progressed tremendously well and reached a new zenith. So, it’s a moment to cherish for me. It creates a perfect scenery of success for me after putting my blood and sweat into this game,” said Hitesh, the sole Tekken 7 star of the team, “I am also delighted to see the fresh faces in the scene who are already masters of the trade. This ultimately shows how far we have come as a community. This time I am more devised for the regional finals. As a mountain to climb it already is, I feel confident as well as prepared for this. Organized by the by International Esports Federation (IESF), World Esports Championship will feature four titles- Tekken 7, CS GO, DOTA 2 as well as eFootball 2022. As hosting an online championship for eFootball is not an option, ESFI is in the works to host an offline event in Delhi or Mumbai.

“We played really well during our qualifiers and defended our national title. All our hard work and preparation before the event paid off,” said the defending champions Team Wicked Gaming skipper Ritesh, “We have been grinding more since we got to know about the national qualifiers and the whole team put in extra hours for the qualifiers.
