The overnight unbeaten pair of Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed started the day on a solid note. However, the pair could only add 15 runs from their overnight score. Rory Burns was beaten by a delivery from Mohammad Shami that came in from an angle around the angle.

Ravindra Jadeja was able to extract a little turn from the surface and was able to dismiss Haseeb Hameed after the opener once again played inside the line. This marked the first wicket by a spinner in the series.

Returning back into the England first-team setup Dawid Malan made his return eventful with a fifty. He had the in-form skipper at the other end, who managed to score his third hundred of the series. This marked his first century at his home ground of Leeds.

The duo shared a 139-run partnership for the third wicket. Mohammad Siraj managed to scalp the wicket right at the end of the session with a wayward delivery down the leg-side. While the umpire adjudged not out and turned down the appeal, Virat Kohli took a review upon the insistence of the bowler and it got rewarded.

The rest of the batting unit chipped in with slight contributions and ended the day on 423-8 with a very healthy lead of 345 runs. This is the first instance where India have led the opposition lead by 300 runs since the Oval Test in 2014.

Mohammad Shami was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets to his name. Jasprit Bumrah only had one wicket to his name, but it was the prized wicket of Joe Root. Ishant Sharma had a horrid outing and ended wicketless.
