The IPL 2025 competition will begin on March 22 at Eden Gardens, the home field of the IPL 2024 champion Kolkata Knight Riders, and conclude on May 25. Qualifier 2 will also take place there on May 23.

With Eden Gardens hosting the 2013 and 2015 championship matches, this will be Kolkata’s first final in ten years.

The 2024 runners-up Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their home games in Hyderabad for the other two playoffs: the Eliminator on May 21 and Qualifier 1 on May 20.

There will be 12 doubleheaders and 74 matches over 65 days in the 2025 Indian Premier League. In the first match of the competition, KKR will play Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the evening. That will be followed by double-header Sunday (March 23) with SRH hosting Rajasthan Royals followed by the IPL’s most celebrated rivalry, with Chennai Super Kings hosting Mumbai Indians in a clash between two five-times champions.

The other seven clubs will each play two day games, with the Royals, Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Gujarat Titans playing three afternoon games each. The afternoon matches from the previous year had begun at 3.30 pm IST.

For example, despite not being in the same group, CSK and Mumbai will meet twice.

Following their match on March 23, these two teams will play again on Sunday, April 20, when Mumbai hosts the Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. Only in April will the four teams—RCB, Mumbai, Punjab, and LSG—play their first home games after playing their opening games away. After winning just one of their first eight games, RCB orchestrated a stunning comeback to form to qualify for the playoffs last year with six straight victories. They will conclude their regular season with a string of home games, with four of their final six games taking place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
