Scottish side Rangers FC achieved victory over Polish club Legia Warsaw in the second leg Europa League play off on Friday, although the name of the only goalscorer of the match, Alfredo Morelos, got misspelled on a tattoo of a drunk fan.
A supporter named Darren Hill, who is on holiday in Spanish island of Ibiza with friends, was watching the game live that night, and went onto celebrate the triumph over with alcohol and late night partying.
The IT professional even went ahead to get the name of the club’s fan favourite forward’s inked on his leg, but a hysterical discovery by his colleagues revealed that the name had been spelt wrong!
The €60 tattoo on the 23 year old read: ‘Alfredo Morolos 20’, vitiating Morelos with Morolos, along with the striker’s kit number at the end.
Hill, who hails from the Scottish town of Greenock, spoke to SunSport about the incident, where he said: “Seeing as Alfredo was the man who sent us through and he’s my favourite player, I thought I’d pay tribute to him and get his name on my thigh.”
“But when we got back to the hotel and looked in the mirror, I noticed it was the wrong spelling. I honestly checked the spelling about 40 times when I wrote his name on the bit of paper to hand over to the guy, and I watched him type it in the computer too!” he added.
The 23 year old Columbian forward netted in the 91st minute after two goalless halves, as Steven Gerrard’s side won the match at Ibrox Stadium 1-0.
What a moment at Ibrox. Nothing beats the feeling of a last-minute winner. pic.twitter.com/7K3RaKfrZJ
