The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 witnessed a controversial Decision Review System (DRS) call during a match between the UP Warriorz and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) that left fans and players stunned.
There is something super effed up going on in DRS. It is either hallucinating contact or skipping frames. Here is a video from today,s WPL game. Watch it carefully… pic.twitter.com/GttKAEISBF

In the seventh over of the innings, UP Warriorz’s Chamari Athapaththu faced a leg-spinner, Georgia Wareham of RCB. Athapaththu was hit on the pads, and while the on-field umpire ruled in favour of the batting team, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana decided to go for a review.
Surprisingly, the ball-tracking showed that the delivery from Wareham would’ve hit the stumps, suggesting it was a googly and not a leg-spinner. The decision was converted from not out to out, leaving Athapaththu and her non-striking partner Alyssa Healy perplexed.
The UP Warriorz coach expressed his frustration about the controversial dismissal, stating that it was a turning point in the game. He felt that if Chamari had been in the middle for a longer period, the outcome could have been in the Warriorz’s favour.

DRS works perfectly on most occasions but on this Athapaththu dismissal, it turned a right decision into a wrong one. #WPL
