As IPL season nears, the problems mounting that come with it have also arrived and it has been a matter of a huge headache for the BCCI.

This year it was already a huge logistical problem for BCCI because of election season, now droughts situation in Southern and Western India are going to be a huge headache for the BCCI.

The idea, therefore, was to keep neutral venues in mind and host matches in areas that are not clashing with the elections. Now, it’s also become imperative to understand the drought situation better. Nobody’s going to be surprised if PILs get filed in the courts,” according to Times of India.

Maharastra has already declared drought in over 900 villages. Whereas Andhra Pradesh has received ₹900 Crore in assistant from central government and Chennai received 57% less rainfall in the monsoon season.

Although around 450 domestic matches were held in the state of Maharashtra, only IPL is expected to come under the scrutiny as it’s one of the richest leagues in the world.

This is election season. With politics at play across the country, given the Lok Sabha polls, nobody here is going to be surprised if the IPL once again becomes the centre of all attention,” according to sources from the Times of India.
