Following his historic bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics 2024, Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale has received a double promotion from Central Railways. This recognition comes as a testament to his remarkable achievement and dedication to the sport.
Olympic Medal changes the fortunes of Swapnil Kusale
Kusale, previously a travelling ticket examiner (TTE), has been elevated to the position of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Sports Cell in Mumbai. The promotion order was issued by the Central Railways, acknowledging his outstanding performance in the field of shooting during the Paris Olympics.
Hailing from Kambalwadi village near Kolhapur in Maharashtra, Swapnil Kusale has been competing in international events since 2012. Despite his long wait, he finally made his Olympic debut at the Paris Games after 12 years of relentless effort. His achievement in the 50m rifle 3 positions event secured India’s third medal in shooting at the Olympics.
Kusale admires former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni for his calm and patient demeanour. Like Dhoni, Kusale’s role as a ticket collector requires similar composure and focus.
