Mirabai Chanu, in her interview with an Indian media house, expressed her desire to have pizza with her family to celebrate her win.

She said, “First of all, I will go and have a pizza. It has been a long time since I ate it. I will eat a lot today”.

The Olympic champion made her country proud after winning a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 49kg weightlifting category.

Her desire to have pizza did not go unfulfilled as the video was retweeted by netizens after tagging Domino’s and Pratik Potathe, the CEO and Wholetime Director of Jubilant Foodworks Ltd (JFL) asking Domino’s to send her pizza free for life. The video caught the attention of the franchise, who responded back.

The Domino’s team sent her family to Imphal free pizza as promised. They tweeted with the caption:We are elated that we could share this wonderful moment with @mirabai_chanu’s loved ones. She brought a smile to a billion+ faces, our Domino’s Imphal Team brought a small token of appreciation to celebrate the success with her family. #MirabaiChanu #Olympics#Olympics2021″

Potathe later tweeted photos of the Domino’s team delivering pizza at her place with a sweet message: Even as we prepare to give #MirabaiChanu a hero’s welcome and let her eat pizzas to her heart’s content, our Imphal team went to her house to congratulate her family with what else but Domino’s Pizza @dominos_india. Congratulations @mirabai_chanu you have done India proud!”

The sweet gesture won the hearts of the masses and was retweeted and shared thousands of times.

Chanu was criticized for her poor performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics but she has truly redeemed herself this time. For her sheer determination to bring honor to her country, Chanu surely deserves free pizza for the rest of her life.
