Liverpool finally ended their thirty-year wait for a league trophy after Manchester City succumbed to defeat in London. As feared, thousands flooded the Merseyside to commemorate the occasion, setting aside the social distancing protocols set in place by the authorities.

The ever-faithful fans managed to engulf the Anfield stadium within an hour of the title confirmation. Police had to intervene by sealing off the Anfield road after about 5000 Liverpool fans managed to barge into the streets with chants, banners, and red flares.

The authorities could only block the road and were helpless as the Liverpool contingent grew stronger by the minute. Helicopters surrounded the area as well while the supporters celebrated their maiden triumph peacefully albeit ignoring social distancing.

Fans’ Ecstacy reached another level after some made it into the streets with masks, while others preferred a mask of their beloved manager Jurgen Klopp. Watch the riveting images below (Image Credits: Daily Mail):

Manchester City needed all three points against fourth-placed Chelsea to delay the inevitable and have Liverpool fight for it at The Etihad in the coming days. However, a Benjamin Mendy blunder and a Fernandinhho hand-ball helped Chelsea get a five-point cushion over Manchester United and Wolves.

This marked Liverpool’s maiden Premier League title and the side managed to set a new record while doing so. With seven matches remaining, Liverpool created history by becoming the fastest side to seal the title. With 86 points in the bag so far and only 21 goals conceded, the champions have an eye on several other records as well.
