The Wanda Diamond League has announced a significant increase in prize money for the 2025 season, setting a new record for the highest total payout in the series’ history. Starting next year, the total prize money will reach $9.24 million, with an additional $18 million in promotional fees for top athletes, bringing the total rewards to around $27 million.

Cash rewards to attract the athletes to the Diamond League

This new prize structure aims to provide greater incentives for athletes across all track and field disciplines. At each of the 14 regular series meetings, the prize money will be $500,000, while the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich will offer a substantial $2.24 million. This marks a significant increase from previous years and reflects the league’s commitment to supporting its athletes.

In addition to the increased prize money, the Diamond League will introduce a select number of “Diamond+ Disciplines” at each meeting and the final. In these disciplines, athletes can earn even higher rewards, with up to $20,000 at series meetings and $50,000 at the final. This new structure aims to recognize exceptional performances and provide additional motivation for athletes to excel.

The league has also decided to increase prize money for lower-finishing competitors, ensuring that athletes finishing between ninth and twelfth place will now receive fixed amounts in all disciplines. This move is part of the league’s broader effort to make the competition more inclusive and rewarding for a wider range of athletes.

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from athletes and fans alike, who see it as a positive step towards enhancing the competitiveness and appeal of the Diamond League. With the increased prize money and the introduction of Diamond+ Disciplines, the 2025 season promises to be one of the most exciting and rewarding in the history of the series.
