While the under 23 team of Delhi arrived at Kolkata for their Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against Bengal, two players of Delhi named Kuldeep Yadav and Lakshay Thareja were accused of misbehaving with a female staff of a hotel in the city. They have been sent back to the Indian capital city by the The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

A spokesperson from the hotel said the two players involved Kuldeep and Lakshay, had apologized on the spot, following by an apology from the whole u 23 squad of Delhi.

However, after getting the info that no police complaint was filed against the players, Sanjay Bhardwaj, the director of DDCA himself arrived to Kolkata and sent the players back to Delhi, as confirmed by a spokesperson.

In a session with the Press Trust of India, the DDCA spokesperson said: “Sanjay Bhardwaj is in Kolkata. The two boys are not playing the match against Bengal that started today. They are being sent back home for this serious breach of conduct.”

“What we are hearing that they allegedly knocked on the doors of a female staffer and were identified by CCTV footage,” he added.

Vinod Tihara, a DDCA secretary also informed IANS that upon reaching Delhi, the Association will conduct further investigation on the matter.

“I wasn’t there, but Sanjay Bhardwaj was there, will get a fair idea once he returns to Delhi tonight. But the boys have been called back and the matter is set to be looked into by a disciplinary committee,” Tihara told reporters.

Lakshay Thareja made his List A debut for Delhi in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, and scored a half century. Kuldeep Yadav, who is a pace bowler, was selected as a replacement for Ishant Sharma in Delhi’s next Ranji Trophy match against Punjab. Now without them, the Delhi u 23 will have to look for early replacements.

With Ishant being unavailable and Pawan Suyal not in great shape, we would have required Kuldeep to partner Simar (Simarjeet) in the next game. Now we need to wait if DDCA takes any disciplinary action against these kids,” a member of the DDCA selection committee informed PTI.
