The nationwide lock down that India currently is observing due to the novel Coronavirus pandemic has not only confined the sportspersons and athletes in their homes, any kind of family merrymaking has also been pretty rough. It was also difficult for legendary Indian boxer MC Mary Kom to arrange a birthday party for her son Prince Chungthanglen Kom, who just turned 7 on Thursday. However, it was all made possible thanks to the effort of Delhi police, who took a birthday cake to Kom’s residence for the birthday party of the young boy!

Personnel from the Tughlaq Road police station, headed by ACP Pragya Tiwari, took the noble initiative to make Prince’s birthday a ‘special’ one, and even in the current crisis from COVID-19, they reached the Kom residence in the nation capital.

The Olympian pugilist expressed her gratitude towards Delhi Police via Twitter, along with a short clip from the unique birthday party.

“Thank you @DCPNewDelhi for making this birthday so special for my younger son Prince Kom. You all are real frontline warriors, i salute you all for your dedication and commitment,” May tweeted. Check out the video below-

Prince is Mary and her husband Karung Onkholer’s third son, born in 2013. They also have two older twin sons, who were born in 2007, and a two year old daughter.

The 37 year old, who became a  Member of Parliament in 2016, recently donated her one month salary as MP, which amounts to Rs 1 lakh, to the PM CARES fund.

“In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, I wish to donate my one month’s salary to the PM National Relief Fund. So, please debit an amount of Rs 1,00,000 from my account,” the 2012 London Olympics bronze medallist said via a letter following her donation.

Mary will be heading to Japan for the Tokyo Olympics next year, which had to be pushed back to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the veteran boxer has her bullseye on clinching the top prize this time.

“I am going to try and get gold, so I have to give more than a hundred per cent. I have the experience,” Kom said last month.
