Deepak Punia took was ahead by 2-0 at the half-time mark, before his opponent cut the lead by half after the restart. However, Deepak Punia cranked the heat up as the bout progressed and eventually claimed 12 points at the end.

However, he returned strong and won the silver medal at the 2021 Asian Championships, and he is one win away from a shot at the Olympic medal. Punia will now face China’s Lin Zushen in the quarter-finals.
In the quarter-final bout, Deepak Punia emerged victorious 6-3 following a wild final seconds of the game. He now enters the semi-final and is one win away from a medal.
