FC Barcelona’s new signing Frenkie de Jong has openly deprecated any comparison to club’s legendary midfielders Xavi Hernández or Andrés Iniesta.

The Ajax starlet’s move to Camp Nou from Amsterdam was confirmed back in January, but has completed the transfer at the end of the season with a reported fee of €75 million on a five-year contract.
The 22 year old Netherlands international was compared to the Blaugrana legends Xavi and Iniesta.
However, the Dutchman has refused to hail any contrast made to the duo.
Speaking to Barça TV, de Jong said: “I don’t want to be compared with those players,”
“It’s the perfect club for a midfielder. They hold onto the ball well, they control the play, it suits me perfectly.”
After a stunning season with the Eredivise champions, de Jong is eager to be a regular starter at Barça.
“I want to start most games. All players want that. I’ll work as hard as I can in training to show what I can do in games,” he said.
“I like to play attacking football, for it to be attractive and for people to have fun when they come to the stadium.
“Both me and Barça are really keen to win the Champions League this year and I hope that’s what happens.”
