Sunrisers Hyderabad finally snatched their first victory of the 2020 Indian Premier League season on Tuesday, ending the unbeaten run of Delhi Capitals at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Even though DC won the toss and elected to field first, the SRH bowling squad, led by a staggering performance from Rashid Khan helped them win the match by 15 runs.

David Warner states training with death bowling has been fruitful

Speaking after the win, David Warner praised the economic bowling in the death overs, and also appreciated the bowling spell from Abhishek Sharma, the 20-year-old who only gave away 34 runs in four overs.

“We lost the toss tonight and won the game, so feels good. Unfortunately, Mitch Marsh was injured and we had to figure out how to get overs in but young Abhishek Sharma came in,” said Warner in the post-match interview.

“We have been working really hard in our training with the death bowling, and today they were fantastic because they can be called up at any stage,” he added.

We need a bit of luck with the bat: David Warner

However, the skipper lamented that several of the SRH batsmen’s, including his shots, ended up in the hands of DC fielders. He also added that some fortune is needed in batting to cross the double century mark that other teams have scored.

“We need a bit of luck with the bat,” the 33-year-old went on, “around ten of them found the fielders But in this heat, running does take a toll.”

“I did hit some good shots, and I told the analyst that it only found the fielders,” Warner acknowledged.

Now with their first two points of IPL 2020, SRH are positioned 6th in the league table, ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings based on NRR. Their next face-off is against CSK on 2nd October at the Dubai International Stadium.
