Diogo Dalot, who was brought to Old Trafford for £19 million last summer by former boss José Mourinho, is now likely to lose his place at the right-back position as Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka joins the lineup.
“I think Gary Neville must be thinking that Manchester United now has a very good right back for 10 years.” Mourinho said back in December, and less than a fortnite later he was fired.
Dalot was transferred from Porto in 2018, as a perfect replacement for the ageing Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.
Cut to 12 months forward, the 20-year old is facing competition from the most expensive right-back in United’s history.
Solskjær is on a heavy reform of the lineup, and the 21-year old’s £50 million move from Selhurst Park is expected to solve problems in the long run.
However, Dalot’s versatility at the left-back or wide forward positions have been noticed by the Norwegian boss, along with his outstanding crossing abilities seen last season.
Although, Wan-Bissaka is not brought to the Theater of Dreams as an option, and will give the Portuguese a tough competition to join the lineup regularly.
But now with two right backs that are aged 21 and under, Solskjær might just have found a solution for the next 10 years.
