Czech Republic international Josef Sural, who plays for the Turkish club Aytemiz Alanyaspor was killed after a minibus carrying players back home after the game vs kayserispor crashed. The club took to twitter on Monday to confirm his death.
While some of the players and staffs returned home via the team bus or by using their private transport, it is said that seven Alanyaspor players had rented a VIP minibus to return and he bus crashed some 5 km from the southern coastal town of Alanya.
Club chairman Hasan Cavusoglu was quoted as saying the driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel of the minibus. A second driver who was supposed to prevent this from happening was also asleep at the time.
“According to information I received from our police chief, despite there being two drivers on the vehicle, they were both asleep. The crash happened as a result of them both being asleep,” Cavusoglu was quoted saying.
The club also went on to confirm that the other six players in the minibus escaped with minor injuries and are not in critical condition.
