According to senior Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq, the speedster was furious regarding Ahmed’s fitness and tweeted Akhtar’s comments on the same. It said:

“When Sarfaraz Ahmed came for the toss, his stomach was sticking out and his face was so fat. He’s the first captain I’ve seen who is so unfit. He’s not able to move across and he’s struggling with wicket-keeping,”

Akhtar expressed his disappointment throughout the innings which saw Pakistan bundle out to a series of short deliveries dished out by the West Indies’ pacers.

But the speedster was optimistic by the end, as he expressed his belief over the side, who he expects to bounce back soon in the coming fixtures.

Pakistan have an uphill task ahead of them, with their next opponents being England at Trent Bridge. The 1992 World Cup winners have a good record at England having won the 2009 T20 World Cup and 2017 Champions Trophy here previously.
