The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to begin on April 9 with the two-time defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, three-time IPL title winner Chennai Super Kings will start their campaign on April 10, a day after against Delhi Capitals. Before the campaign starts, the franchise has done an exceptional job.

England wrapped up the series by winning the fourth test

Their new recruit, Moeen Ali had earlier asked the franchise to remove the logo of a liquor brand from his jersey as he is a Muslim and his faith bans him from consuming alcohol as well. And when the 33-year-old England cricketer asked them to do it, they happily agreed. Notably, the logo was of SNJ 10000 which is a surrogate product brand of Chennai-based SNJ Distilleries as well.

CSK bought him for Rs 7 crore in the mini-auction in Chennai a couple of months ago. Earlier the batting coach Michael Hussey seemed confident of a better show after last year’s poor show which saw them finishing at seventh and not reaching the playoffs for the very first time in the history of the league as well.

“I feel we have a very balanced squad that has most bases covered and with depth in most areas. The guys are in really good spirits and have been preparing extremely well,” he was quoted as saying on the CSK website. Hussey further added that CSK had a very balanced squad, adding their new players Moeen Ali, K Gowtham and Robin Uthappa were “excellent additions.” “I think they are all excellent additions. Moeen is an excellent all-rounder, Robin has a lot of experience and has been a quality performer in the past and Gowtham has some genuine talent that we can look to develop further,” Hussey expressed.

“A good start would be nice because the players will then relax and hopefully play their best cricket with confidence, otherwise the pressure can build up on everyone involved,” the former Australia batsman said. “I think playing a block of matches in Mumbai will help the players settle and build confidence early in the tournament. The conditions at Wankhede are generally very good for both batsmen and bowlers, so hopefully, we can start well and players can feel good about their games.”
