Did Cristiano Ronaldo leave Real Madrid because of Florentino Pérez?

Cristiano Ronaldo claimed that the President of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez’s attitude towards him was the reason his departure in this summer transfer window. The 33 year old Portuguese footballer joined Juventus from Real Madrid in this season’s summer transfer window with a transfer fee worth £105 million. In a recent interview to ‘France Football’ Cristiano Ronaldo stated the real cause of his departure in this summer.

Cristiano Ronaldo stated,

“He only ever looked at me as a business relationship.”

“I know it. What he told me never came from the heart.”

“That’s what made me think about leaving. Sometimes I’d look at the news, where they were saying I was asking to leave. There was a bit of that, but the truth is that I always had the impression that the president would not hold me back. If it had all been about money, I’d have moved to China, where I would have earned five times as much than here [at Juventus] or at Real. I did not come to Juve for the money. I earned the same in Madrid, if not more. The difference is that, at Juve, they really wanted me. They told me that and made it clear. They showed me that.”

When the 33 year old Portuguese football was asked whether his decision was influenced by the news of the departure of Zinedine Zidane as the manager of the club, he told

“My decision to leave was not based on his departure. That being the case, it’s one of those little things that made me feel a bit better in terms of what I thought of the situation at the club.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is eyeing to win the Ballon D’Or in this season for the sixth time in his player and he has told,

“I think I deserve it this year … Yes, I dream of winning the Ballon d’Or for the sixth time and passing, in this case, Lionel Messi.”

Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid being the highest scorer of the club of all time. The Portuguese superstar won 15 trophies with the Los Blancos including 2 La Liga titles and 4 Champions League title. In this season, Real Madrid are struggling to show their class in all competitions while Cristiano Ronaldo has already scored 7 goals for his new side Juventus.
