Since 2015, the world has celebrated International Yoga Day every year on 21st June, to commemorate the age old practice of physical, mental, and spiritual exercise. Even amidst the COVID-19 pandemic of this year, the global population, celebrities and sportspersons alike, observed Yoga Day Numerous icons from the country’s sports fraternity, cricketers and athletes alike, took to social media to share their Yoga Day celebration, from the comfort of their homes.
The concept of celebrating the Yoga Day was initiated at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. June 21st was suggested as the ‘International Yoga Day’ by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, which also holds importance as the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
Many present and former Indian cricketers along with many athletes from the country took to social media today to share themselves performing Yoga through several photos and videos, as Twitter and Instagram filled with likewise posts.
