IPL 2023 is in the books and Team India cricketers are back to the international duties. It has been noted that they have a jam-packed schedule of international cricket ahead of them. Right after the IPL, team India is currently in England and are geared up to participate in the World Test Championship final against Australia from June 7 at the Oval in London.
Team India schedule
Following the conclusion of the WTC, the Rohit Sharma-led side will be playing back-to-back ODI series till the start of the ODI World Cup 2023 to prepare for the marquee event. To keep players fresh for the packed calendar, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) will reportedly give a month’s break from June to mid-July.
Per reports of Cricbuzz, India’s three-match ODI home series against Afghanistan, which was scheduled to be played between June 20 to 30, is now set to be cancelled as BCCI is looking to manage the player’s workload.
After the end of a month break, India will tour West Indies next month from July 12 onwards and will play two Tests, three ODIs and 5 T20Is.
The schedule for the Asia Cup 2023 is yet to be determined as both India and Pakistan have still not decided the venue of the continental cup. A total of 12 ODIs are set to be played in Asia Cup 2023, where India and Pakistan will lock horns thrice in the tournament if they reach the final.
India will host the ODI World Cup 2023, which is scheduled to begin from October 5. The tournament will feature a total of 48 games, with each team playing nine games during the league stage.
To end the year, India will tour South Africa 2023, which will feature 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is extending to January 2024.
