Left arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem broke the List-A record for most wickets in an innings after putting up a stunning performance in which his figures read 10-4-10-8. Nadeem bettered Rahul Sanghvi’s 8/15 for Delhi against Himachal Pradesh (1997-98).

Nadeem who picked up 8 wickets in his first 8 overs was on course to claim all the 10 wickets. But fellow left-arm spinner, Anukul Roy dismissed Rahul Chahar to break the sequence. This bowling display saw Jharkhand dismiss Rajasthan for a mere 73 and chase down the target in 15 overs.

Speaking about it, Nadeem said, “I didn’t know until some people told me that I had broken the world record. It feels really good to play for the state (team) and do well and help it win matches,” he told PTI reacting to his feat. “I was happy with my performance and the hat-trick made it more special. It is nice to do that,” he said.

He also credited his stint with the national side as a net bowler in the ongoing Asia cup for this brilliant display of bowling.

“Bowling to the batsmen in the national team helps a lot. I was able to work on my bowling. You can know where you stand when you bowl to top-quality batsmen. I am happy I got the opportunity,” Nadeem added.

It is to be noted that Shahbaz Nadeem has had some tremendous success in the Ranji Trophy circuit earlier, picking up more than 50 wickets in both 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons. Despite these brilliant performances he is yet to receive a national call-up.
