Purple cap holder Kagiso Rabada’s tournament comes to a premature end as the pacer is recalled by the Cricket South Africa in order to not aggravate his current injury.
The South African pacer, who has been a pivotal member for the rejuvenated Delhi Capitals side, was dropped in their heavy defeat against the table-toppers Chennai Super Kings owing to a stiff back.
With Rabada being a vital member in South Africa’s World Cup plans, the Cricket South Africa decided to recall Rabada. Delhi Capitals released a statement to verify the same.

The young speedster commented on his early departure from the tournament that will see him miss the playoffs. Rabada said:
“It is indeed very hard for me to leave the Delhi Capitals at this stage of the tournament,” he said. “But with the World Cup just a month away, a collective decision has been made for me in this regard. It’s been a tremendous season for me with the Delhi Capitals, both on and off the field, and I truly believe that our team can win the trophy.”
Delhi Capitals’ coach Ricky Ponting too shed some thought on the unexpected departure by deeming it as unfortunate. Ponting added:
“It’s unfortunate that Rabada is having to leave us at this stage of the tournament. But I have full confidence in our team and I’m sure each and every member of this team will step up to the occasion,”
