Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara was hospitalized in Mumbai after the batsman complained of chest pain following a gym session.

The flamboyant left-hander was admitted into the Global Hospital in Parel where he is believed to be perfectly fine. The doctors claimed that the reports have not shown anything worrisome.
Lara, who is currently in Mumbai as part of the Star Sports team covering the World Cup reportedly has requested the medical team to not make his condition public. The hospital authorities released a statement which claimed:
“We request you to respect his right to privacy. We do not reveal our patients clinical and health condition without their explicit consent”
The medical team apparently ran some routine tests along with an angioplasty. The batsman was admitted into the hospital and was accompanied by the in-house hotel doctor who initially assessed his condition.
Lara was on leave from his commentating duties from June 24 to June 27 and later revealed in an audio recording that he may have exerted himself a bit too much in the gym which might have led to the pain in the chest.
The West Indian signed off by thanking everyone for their concerns and stated that he would be back in the hotel by tomorrow.
