What Coronavirus? Fans flock to MS Dhoni in Ranchi!

The Coronavirus pandemic brought in some major disruptions in the sport of cricket. The India vs South Africa One Day International series was dropped, and the 2020 Indian Premier League was also pushed back from 29th March to 15th April. There is also warnings against large gatherings to avoid any risk of contamination or further spread of the virus in the population. But what warnings could work when former Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is on the streets with his bike? Fans flocked in to see their idol!

Since the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Dhoni has been on a hiatus away from international duty. However, the veteran batsman was scheduled to return to the 22 yards this IPL season, and the long wait for his fans would have finally come to a closure in the season opener between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. But as now the tournament is pushed back two weeks, Dhoni’s fanbase couldn’t control themselves seeing the superstar cricketer riding his cruiser motorcycle, a Harley Davidson Fat Boy in Ranchi.

Instagram user @machamanamthopulumra shared a video of MS Dhoni on his bike as fans gathered around him for selfies. Check it out below-

The beloved CSK captain was seen in early practice session for the Chennai-based franchise along with teammate Suresh Raina in early March. However, after the postponement of IPL, the legendary wicket keeping batsman has gone back to his home town.

Although there hasn’t been any updates on the 38 year old’s return to the Men in Blue dugout, speculations were on the air about that IPL would open Dhoni’s doors back to international duty.

However, official statement comes from BCCI themselves, who have indicated that a a stunning performance in the upcoming IPL season would get Dhoni back into the team, ending his nearly a year long break from the Indian squad.

“He will be back in the reckoning only if he has a good IPL. And why only him? There are so many senior and young players who will play in the IPL. If they do well, they ought to be considered too. So, you could see some surprise inclusions,” a BCCI official had recently told PTI.
