Kevin Durant is one of the four Brooklyn Nets players to have tested positive for the highly contagious disease. With this, The toll for the NBA players affected by the virus rises to seven.
Earlier, Brooklyn Nets had announced that four of their players tested positive but did not divulge the names. The team had claimed that only one of the players had shown symptoms for the disease before adding that the members have been requested to isolate themselves.
“All players and members of the Nets travel party are being asked to remain isolated, closely monitor their health and maintain constant communication with team medical staff,”
“The organization is currently notifying anyone who has had known contact with the players, including recent opponents, and is working closely with state and local health authorities on reporting,”
Durant spoke to The Athletic and confirmed himself as one of the players to be tested positive. The player stated that he is feeling fine at the moment before adding:
“Everyone be careful, take care of yourself and quarantine,”
Kevin Durant is still recovering from the Achilles’ injury he suffered during last season’s NBA finals against the Toronto Raptors. His business partner Rich Kleiman claimed that it would be difficult for Durant to return back to action even if the NBA manages to resume in the coming months.
The current NBA season was put on hold after Utah Jazz’sRudy Gobert tested positive for the Covid-19 virus last week.
The player came under severe scrutiny after taking the situation casually and apologized the day after the NBA season was suspended. After Gobert, his teammate Donovan Mitchell and Detroit Pistons’ Christian Wood were the next ones to have contracted the virus.
NBA were also severely criticized for continuing with the season under such critical circumstances.
