The Indian campaign at the ongoing China Masters 2023 saw HS Prannoy as well as the duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty win their respective Round of 16 matches to secure entry into the quarterfinals of the BWF World Tour Super 750 event on Thursday in Shenzhen.
The Asian Games bronze medallist in Prannoy made quick work of Magnus Johannesen of Denmark, winning his singles outing via a 21-12, 21-18 straight set victory within 40 minutes. His quarterfinal clash will take place against either Kodai Naraoka of Japan or another Danish shuttler Anders Antonsen.
Meanwhile, in their men’s doubles stint, Satwik-Chirag secured another straight game win. The Asian Games gold medallist pair defeated Akira Koga and Taichi Saito of Japan in a 21-15, 21-16 margin in 46 minutes. Their upcoming encounter will be against either the Danish duo of Kim Astrup and Anders Rasmussen or Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin of Indonesia.
