Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini says that he is lucky to play in the era of Messi and Ronaldo and compares their rivalry to Federer and Nadal.
Cristiano Ronaldo headed his 601st career goal as Juventus salvaged a 1-1 draw vs Torino on Friday. Following the game, the side’s defender Chiellini said that he was luckt to live on the same era of Messi and Ronaldo comparing their rivalry to Federer and Nadal.
While Ronaldo scored his 601st, Messi went on to record his 600th in a superb free kick that saw Liverpool suffer a 3-0 defeat in the Champions League semi finals. Chiellini believes that he is lucky to exist in the era of these two and play alongside them.
“We are lucky to live in the same age as these two star players. We can compare them to Federer and Nadal. One day Cristiano is maybe the strongest in the world and another day Messi, but the truth is that they are two extra-terrestrials who play another sport to us.” told the defender.
Despie being knocked out by Ajax in the Champions League, Chiellini spoke highly of Juventus, crediting his side for the heart and soul they showed vs both Inter and Torino.
“This Juventus has a soul and a heart, with Inter and Torino we didn’t start very well, but we want to show everyone that we can be the strongest from beginning to end,” Chiellini added.
