The transfer ban and the appointment of club legend Frank Lampard- Chelsea’s youth squad is blooming up, and one of the biggest potential names coming up is Reece James. Earning praise from teammates and pundit, the teenager is promising to be a first team starter in the future team. Also, the full back has received the most fitting nickname of ‘Beast’, from none other than Mason Mount!
After promotion to the senior team, the youth academy teammates are regularly receiving first team football after a couple of loan spells. Mount, who returned to Stamford Bridge along with his gaffer from Derby County, was all mouth towards his mate following 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.
Speaking after the game, the 20 year old said: “Reece is a very quiet boy. I’ve known him for a very, very long time, since eight or nine years old at the Academy here.
“He’s a very good boy, always works hard, and he’s got tremendous qualities. He’s going to be a brilliant player for us now and in the future as well.” he told reporters.
Reece, who was replaced with skipper César Azpilicueta on the Eagles game, are childhood buddies with Mount, which the young midfielder emphasized on.
‘I call him the Beast, because he’s so quick, strong and powerful. You don’t want to get too close to him in training because he’ll get you off the ball, so you try to stay away from him. We all have a joke and a laugh, me, Tammy, Fikayo, Cal, Reece. We’ve all been together from a very young age so we know the ins and outs of all of us.” Mount added.
The Blues have a tough fixture coming up as they will travel to Manchetser to take on Manchester City this Saturday.
