With Bundesliga giants all set to rope in Chelsea’s prized teen forward Callum Hudson-Odoi this month, the Blues have resorted to their final fall-back plan to retain their star academy graduate. The London based club have offered the teenager a whopping £70,000 a week deal to persuade him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
With the offer Chelsea have made, and should he choose to accept it, Hudson-Odoi will go on to become the Premier League’s most paid teenager. This also appears to be quite the odd deal considering that the 18-year old Blues forward hasn’t started a single game for the club yet.
Chelsea have fended off all of Bayern’s previous three attempts to rope in Hudson-Odoi. And the desire to have young blood in their steadily ageing squad keeps the multiple Bundesliga champions persistent in the hunt for the teenager. Their fourth attempt this month saw the German club’s offer shoot up to £35million in exchange for the young Englishman.
But taking into consideration the fact that Hudson-Odoi has been continuously stalling the signing of a new contract which will extend his stay at the Stamford Bridge, the club’s top hierarchy are pressured to resort to anything that can produce an output regarding his future, since he might leave for nothing when his deal expires in the next 18 months.
And Chelsea would rather keep him than risk the possibility of losing him on a free. But Hudson-Odoi might explore life out of London in lieu of getting more play time, and eventual better starting opportunities at Bayern, who will be hoping to rejuvenate the team with all they can.
