Chelsea eye Coutinho as first choice Eden Hazard replacement

Chelsea ace Eden Hazard has long been touted for a move away from Stamford Bridge, and with the summer window fast approaching, the forward is reportedly on his way to Real Madrid. The Blues now have identified former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho as a possible replacement for the Belgian striker whilst having a backup in mind.

Barcelona winger Philippe Coutinho had been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past as a potential replacement for Chelsea ace Eden Hazard considering the status of his contract with the London club, and reports in Spain now strongly suggest that the Brazil international is hot on Chelsea’s radar for the job.

Zinedine Zidane made a remarkable comeback to Real Madrid earlier last month, and with the Spanish side’s strike force under question, Hazard, who previously cited the Spanish capital as a dream location, will be welcomed by the Frenchman with open arms.

Coutinho, who has just started 19 La Liga games this season, has been under a fair level of criticism due to inconsistencies on the pitch, scoring only 5 times and registering 2 assists. The Brazilian is eyeing a return to the Premier League after spending just a year at Camp Nou.

French media outlet Telefoot also are suggesting should the 26-year old former Liverpool star indeed return to England, Chelsea is where he’ll be going.

However, should the deal for Coutinho not materialize for the Blues, a backup in high-in-demand Lille striker Nicolas Pepe has been identified by the club’s hierarchy at the top.
