One moment Pogba was a struggling cog in the United machine and all of a sudden he’s the best central midfielder in England. Pundits might have a lot to say about what has happened to Paul Pogba but there’s inside information from Jesse Lingard telling us exactly that.
Jesse Lingard claims Paul Pogba is back to his best because new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given him licence to thrill. Pogba is playing with a newfound freedom and that has uplifted his performances for the red side of Manchester.
The England winger puts this down to Solskjaer allowing him to play his natural game.
“He’s enjoying his football,” said Lingard. “He’s playing in the role he likes to play in, just inside off the left.
“He has the freedom to make things happen. He’s always got forward in that position and scored goals.
“Ole has helped him 100 per cent. He has given him the confidence and licence to be free and play his game and do what we know he can do.
“I can definitely, definitely see the Paul I used to know. I have seen him playing through the ranks and he is back to that player, the player we know.”
Lingard is also enjoying working with Solskjaer again and he played under him during the Norwegian’s stint as reserve boss a decade ago.
Solskjaer gave him his reserve debut and says he is a fantastic man manager.
