Cardiff City have accused Nantes of breaking FIFA rules regarding the transfer of the deceased Emiliano Sala. The English side has made allegations over the £15 million fee for the January signing who perished in tragic circumstances.
Sala and the pilot of his aircraft David Ibbotson were lost in a crash over three months ago. Cardiff submitted their plea to FIFA which included why they have not paid the first instalment of the fee for the striker. They claim that Sala’s deal became invalid because of the circumstances. He signed a contract considered non-compliant with Premier League rules and legally-binding clauses in their agreement with Nantes had not been satisfied.
Annexe 3 of the FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) states clubs must input the “club intermediary’s name and commission” into its TMS. A source told the Telegraph: “The omission potentially impacts on the validity of the International Transfer Certificate and clearly constitutes a breach of Annexe 3 RSTP, rendering Nantes liable to sanction.”
Nantes said that they would fight any claim which holds them responsible for the players’ death. No further agreement has been made between the two clubs,
