Indian shuttling ace and double Olympics medallist PV Sindhu has slipped out of the world top 10 for the first time in over six years in the latest issued BWF rankings, while the pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have successfully retained their sixth position.
Sindhu, who was earlier world no. 9, was unable to defend her women’s singles title at the Swiss Open last week, dropped two places, and is now ranked 11th with 60,448 points. The 27-year-old has been out of her natural form this season since making comeback after a lengthy layoff due to injury.
A former world no. 2, Sindhu had been in the top 10 BWF World rankings since 2016 November. Her first entry into the top 10s happened back in 2013 August.
Coming to men’s singles, HS Prannoy has stayed at 9th position, while Kidambi Srikanth dropped a place to 21st. Lakshya Sen continues to hold his 25th ranking.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who clinched the men’s doubles title at the Swiss Open last week, fortified their world no. 6 position, while their women’s doubles counterparts Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand remain at 18th place.
