In the newly updated BWF World Rankings for men’s singles, Lakshya Sen reached a career-high ranking of six. The Commonwealth Games gold medalist has moved up two spots. In January, Lakshya won the India Open Super 500 and finished as runner-up at the German Open and the All England Open. Also in May, he was a crucial member of India’s team that won the Thomas Cup team championship in Bangkok.

HS Prannoy, the runner-up in the Swiss Open, and Kidambi Srikanth, who reached the semifinals of the Hylo Open, both remain ranked eleventh and twelveth, respectively.

Other Indian shuttlers who have maintained their places in the top 10 of the World Rankings include PV Sindhu in women’s singles and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty in men’s doubles.

An injury prevented Sindhu from competing at both the World Championships and the Europe leg of the world tour, causing her to drop to fifth place from fourth. Satwik-Chirag, however, rose to an all-time career high ranking of seven, thanks to their title-winning performance at the French Open Super 750 last week.

The ranking of Saina Nehwal in women’s singles remains at 33rd, while Malvika Bansod jumped up five places to position herself at 35th. The pair of Gayatri Gopichandand Treesa Jolly has also made a significant jump, as the Hylo Open women’s doubles semifinalist gained five places to reach their career-highest rank of 23.
