PV Sindhu went from strength to strength after she stunned the world number three, Chen Yu Fei, of China in straight games to assure herself of a minimum silver medal in BWF World Championships in Basel on Saturday.

While a close and an intense game was expected on cards, it failed to live up to those expectations as Sindhu eased past her Chinese opponent by the scoreline of 21-7, 21-14 in a clash that lasted just 40 minutes.

This win now sees Sindhu play the final of the world championship for the third time straight. While she had to be content with the silver in the previous two occasions, she will hope to go one step further and claim the gold this time around.

Meanwhile in the men’s singles category, B Sai Praneeth had to settle for a bronze medal after losing to World No. 1 Kento Momota 13-21, 8-21. Praneeth was no match for Momota’s game play and surrendered to a defeat in just 41 minutes.

While Praneeth will have to head back home having missed out on a gold medal, he will still be content with a medal having become the first male shuttler after 36 years to win a medal in this tournament.
