The Indian shuttling pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand met an unfortunate early exit from the opening round of the Swiss Open,a BWF World Tour Super 300 event, in Basel on Tuesday.
The Treesa-Gayatri duo, who reached the semifinal round of the recently concluded All-England Championships, were handed a 14-21, 14-21 straight game defeat by the second seeded Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti of Indonesia.
Earlier on Tuesday, Malvika Bansod marked a victorious finish in her qualifying-round outing, defeating Lauren Lam of USA 21-17, 21-7 in 31 minutes to enter the main draw, where the 21-year-old will take on Korean shuttler Kim Ga Eun in the opener.
Aakarshi Kashyap, on the other hand, gained a direct entry into the main draw after her qualifying round opponent withdrew, placing her in the opening round fixture against Yvonne Li of Germany.
