AEW recently signed high-profile star Bryan Danielson(formerly known as Daniel Bryan), who has had a brilliant career in the pro-wrestling industry. However, his career was slowed down by the injuries, especially the neck injury that forced him to hang up his boots in 2016. Eventually, he did make an in-ring return after recovering from the injury. While many consider, Bryan Danielson’s WWE title victory at WrestleMania XXX against Randy Orton and Batista was the highest point of his career, ‘The American Dragon’ considers it to be his lowest. In an appearance on WFAN’s Moose & Maggie to promote AEW Grand Slam, Danielson discussed the time around WWE’s flagship pay-per-view.
Bryan Danielson speaks on enduring multiple injuries
Bryan Danielson made an epic in-ring debut in AEW after he put on a great show at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam on Wednesday. He kicked off the show with AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in an enticing match but it ended in a time limit draw.
During the recent interview, he noted that many people would call his victory at the show was the highest of his career but he still sees it as the lowest. The reason behind it are the injuries he suffered. He recalled neck injury and losing strength in his arm as the post match injury woes continued even after weeks.
Here is what he said:
“My lowest point was right around WrestleMania 30, which most people would consider the high point of my career. I was, at the time, I had some nerve issues due to my neck, so I was in tremendous pain. Then I ended up losing all the strength in my right arm.”
He added: “A couple weeks after WrestleMania 30, I couldn’t unlock the car with my right hand. They said ‘the nerve pain is one thing, we can mitigate that. But once you start losing strength, we’re risking permanent damage.’ So then I had to have neck surgery. That was the worst I’ve ever felt.”
He said that he feels ‘great right now’ and ‘infinitely better,’ than he did before WrestleMania 30.
