A number of times in football a player gets unfortunate enough to get a red card within the first minute into the game. Remembering Steven Gerrard’s marching orders 38 seconds after kick off against United in 2015, sometimes even the goalkeepers face early dismissals. However, a history was made in the Turkish league a couple of weeks back.
On 21st October, Konyaspor and Yeni Malatyaspor went head to head in their Süper Lig fixture at the Konya Büyükşehir Stadium. Soon after the kick off, a volley went straight towards the Konyaspor keeper Serkan Kırıntılı, who grabbed it with ease, but outside the box. As a result, the referee sent him off, just 13 seconds into the game, a record in Turkish football history!

Just after grabbing the ball, the 34 year old had already started taking off his gloves, even before referee Mustafa Ogretmenoglu had taken the red out of his pocket.
The Turkey international was replaced by Ertuğrul Taşkıran, who came on as the Anadolu Kartalı’s Belgian left back Alper Uludağ was benched.
The visitors snatched a 2-0 win, as Guilherme Costa Marques and Robin Yalçın both found the back of the net in the 4th and 52nd minute.
However, following the match, Serkan apologised to the supporters.
