Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved almost everything in the world of Football. Only devoid of a World Cup trophy, the Portuguese icon has won it all, from top flight silverware to Euro Cup in 2016, and is a record 5 times Ballon d’Or winner. Fans love him, people who don’t love him hold massive respect. However, there is someone who isn’t happy with Ronaldo’s achievements, and that is none other than his mother, who claims the mafia is behind it!
Dolores Aveiro, the Juventus talisman’s old lady has openly stated that his son is a victim of bias because of an unacknowledged ‘football mafia’, and believes her son has been denied what he deserves.
In a recent tribute event hosted by União da Madeira, dedicated to the Portuguese captain, Dolores spoke to a Portuguese news outlet:
“There’s a mafia. That’s the right word to describe it. Yes, there is a football mafia. If you look at everything that has happened, you’ll realise that it’s because of this mafia.”
“If he were Spanish or English, they wouldn’t do what they’ve done, but since he’s Portuguese and from Madeira… well, this happens.”
The 34 year old has been shortlisted in this year’s Ballon d’Or award ceremony to be held in December in Paris, and Dolores is positive that Ronaldo will secure his sixth award, despite the bias.
“I don’t know if he will receive it, but I am confident and I think he deserves it” she added.
Ronaldo scored a last minute winner against Genoa last Thursday, as the Bianconeri are leading the Serie A table with 26 points.
