Former Aussie superstar bowler Brett Lee has come forward to aid in India’s current tussle against the COVID-19 pandemic, and has donated one Bitcoin worth approximately Rs 43 lakhs to fund the oxygen supply in the country.

The second wave of COVID-19 has impacted India more than any other country and amidst a high spike in positive cases as well as deaths, there has been a shortage of oxygen supply across the many hospitals in the country.

India has been averaging over 3 lakh cases daily and just on Monday, a whopping 3.52 lakh plus COVID positive cases were registered, clocking the total number of cases in the country to more than 1.73 crores. The deadly virus has also taken the lives of 2800 people on the same day as the death toll jumps to the north of 1.95 lakhs.

Inspired by Pat Cummins, Brett Lee comes forward to help India fight the COVID crisis

Brett Lee, who has been present in the commentary panel of the ongoing 2021 Indian Premier League, has followed the footsteps of his compatriot Pat Cummins, the Kolkata Knight Riders speedster who recently pledged USD 50,000 towards the PM CARES Fund and urged others to do the same.

In the evening of Tuesday, when the price of one Bitcoin was hovering around the Rs 40 lakh mark, Brett Lee took to Twitter to announce that he has donated one Bitcoin to Crypto Relief, which will fund the purchase of oxygen supplies to the hospitals.

“India has always been like a second home for me. The love and affection that I have got from the people of this country both during my professional career and even after my retirement, holds a special place in my heart,” Lee’s post on Twitter read, “it saddens me deeply to see people suffering due to the ongoing pandemic.”

“I feel privileged to be in a position of making a difference and with that in mind, I’d like to donate 1 BTC (Bitcoin) to Crypto Relief to help with the purchase of oxygen supplies for the hospitals across India,” the Aussie added, alongside thanking Cummins for his effort.
