Indian boxing star Nikhat Zareen produced a superb conclusion to her IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships campaign, finishing the tournament with gold after defeating Jitpong Jutamas of Thailand in the 52 kg summit clash on Thursday.
Zareen went into the final with a 5-0 dominating victory against Brazilian pugilist Caroline De Almeida in the semis. In the final, Zareen clinched victory over her Thai opponent via unanimous decision.
With her triumph at the tournament, Zareen continued her streak of gold medals, starting with the Nationals last year, and also placed herself in the history books as becoming the fifth woman boxer from the country to clinch gold at the World Championships.
